We begin with the end in mind. Before we shoot any images, we need a plan for how they will be displayed in your home. Creating a plan and shooting for that plan results in a session that makes magic. The entire portrait process takes place in several different meetings with us. The Pre-Session Consultation, the Shoot, the Preview & Ordering Appointment and Delivery.
Every session begins with an initial in-person consultation so we can get to know one another. Your place, ours, or somewhere in-between - we love to meet over a cup of tea or coffee and learn more about you and your family, your goals for the portrait session, and ideas for decorating your home. We also encourage clients to use this time for questions and ideas; and we love to show you our beautiful print products in-person to give you a feel for the final outcome of your session.
Once you've decided on go with us, we'll go ahead and get the date booked for your photo session! In order to reserve your day, a non-refundable session fee deposit and a signed contract are required. We'll work with your schedule to find a perfect day and time for the session!
On the day of your session, we'll meet at the agreed location and time and start snapping away! A portrait session can take anywhere from 1-3 hours. There's really no rush - or general time limit - just what feels natural. It generally takes at least 30 minutes for us to "warm up" together, meaning getting comfortable and feeling relaxed in front of (or behind!) the lens. After that, it's really up to the photographed subject as to how long the session will last. This is the fun part - let us do the work!
The photos have been taken, individually basic retouched with great love and care, and now it's time for you to see the end result of all our hard work and planning! One of our clients' favorite parts of the entire Jin Kim Studio experience is getting to see their beautiful images in our studio! At this point in time, you'll have the opportunity to choose the photographs you would like to have as prints, albums, canvas, or a variety of other handcrafted photo products we offer. We'll go over a pricing guide and make recommendations for photo products we think would enhance your house! This is your time to ask questions, place orders, and get excited about your images.
About 3-4 weeks later, your art piece will be ready for pick up. We’ll call or email you to let you know it’s here and make arrangements for you to take home the final result. And if you need help with installation, we will gladly provide someone who can help. And once those portraits are hanging, you can sit back and enjoy them EVERY DAY. For these are your precious kids —the ones who are growing too fast and who you will cherish to the end of your days.
We offer several session options to create the perfect photographic art that is specially designed for your space. This can include a wall portrait, an heirloom album and digital images that you would like to preserve for generations.The creative session fee formally books your portrait appointment and covers the pre-session consultation in person or by phone, your portrait session, post-session processing and preparation of your images and a private viewing/ordering appointment at our studio. It does not include any prints or products. Clients may purchase products via “Create A Collection” or A La Carte.
